City Section Sports will not Resume in December
November 2, 2020
LAUSD announced Friday that high school sports in the CIF Los Angeles City section will not begin as scheduled. District Superintendent Austin Beutner told personnel at a meeting Friday that there would be no sports allowed at the scheduled start day of December 14. It was first planned by the CIF that sports in season one, which include football, boys and girls volleyball, and cross country, would begin official practice on December 14, but with the announcement, that will not happen. However, the district did give approval for socially distanced conditioning outside, (not to be confused with actual team practice) which is set to begin on November 9 but it is now likely that there will be no team practicing on December 14, at least for now. There have been rumors that the CIF will likely adjust the planned schedule to accommodate the announcement. The District has not announced plans for when gameplay will resume, it is now looking like sports in season one will have to be rescheduled once again.
