In over two years MACES has not had a talent show, but coming November 15 there will be a talent show in the MPR. The talent show there will feature 11 students who will be participating with various acts. There will be students who will sing, dance Folklorico, play piano, and play guitar. There are eight high school and three middle school students who will be performing at this year’s show.
Dr. Macaluso is the director of the show. He said that he pitched the idea of having a talent show this year, because “so many students at MACES have talent but not many have the chance of taking a class where they are able to showcase talent”…I am very fortunate to have support from the ASB board and the AV club to add visuals and audio,” he said.
Juanmiguel Leon is a senior who will be participating in the talent show. His act will be a Folklorico dance to a song called La Vieja. He said the reasons as to why he joined the show was because “it’s a good way to express myself in a way.” He feels nervous and also excited about performing. He heard about the show through fliers on campus. Dr. Macaluso also knew that he danced so he asked him to join and he thought “Why not?” because it’s his senior year.
Enrique Vargas is a freshman who will be singing two songs for the show which include El Rey and Mochila Azul. “I used to sing when I was little, but I got more serious this year” he said about how long he has been singing. He said the reason as to why he joined the talent show was because he had already performed in a talent show at his old school. He also feels excited and nervous about performing.
