In the halls of Maces, one senior stands out as a symbol of leadership and community service. Haifa Hamdan, a senior, continues to leave a mark on her school and the local community through her dedication to make a positive impact. From STEM-focused initiatives to community service, Haifa’s commitment to making a difference has become a big part of her high school journey.
Hamdan’s passion for wellness, technology and community service thrives in clubs like Interact and MESA. As an active member, she not only embraces the world of technology but also applies her skills to projects that benefit the local community.
Hamdan’s involvement in Youth and Government, Student Site Council, and ASB Leadership demonstrate her dedication in shaping the future of her school and community. As a student commissioner, she actively advocates for the voices of her peers.
Hamdan introduced the Self Care club to MACES at the beginning of her senior year with the help of Ms. Gallego expresses Hamdan as the, “ She’s prepared, a great communicator, super involved, passionate, understanding, every adjective in the book that’s positive and hardworking definitely encapsulates haifa.” The overall purpose of this Self care club was to make students feel comfortable in their own skin while promoting mental and emotional health. She expresses her love for wellness and self care through each meeting. Hamdan said that she will continue to pursue this passion to become a professional dermatologist .
Being the president of one of the biggest clubs on campus, the Interact club, Hamdan has proven herself as a dedicated leader. Under her guidance, Interact organizes numerous events that not only entertain but give the club members a sense of pride. Hamdan’s community service consists of cleaning local parks, hosting events, coordinating food drives, cleaning up around MACES etc. She demonstrates the impact one person can have on the world around them.
Mr Duran expresses Hamdan’s quality of , “ her quiet leadership, she’s not a loud voice like certain people that I know that get in my face and tell me what they want and tell me what to do she’s just a student who has ideas and uses her involvement …” Simply because one does good work doesn’t mean they have to boast about it. Hamdan is one of many quiet leaders in MACES.
In addition to her roles Hamdan’s influence goes far beyond the school gates. While recognizing the importance of community service, Hamdan has earned herself the role as City of Bell Student Commissioner where she has the opportunity to further engage in her community outside of school clubs.
In the words of Principal Duran, “The one thing to remember is that Haifa may stand out because she’s so involved in so many things but at the same time its why is she involved in the way she is? Is it to score points ? is it to stand out in her resume? Or is it to make a difference? And I like to think that Haifa is doing all of that to make a difference.”
