Grad Night this year is a trip for seniors to remember, but with the cost being $300 is it out of reach for some of the class? The field trip is to Disneyland and promises an all-day trip to one of the best theme parks California has to offer. Allowing students to roam the park freely and enjoy the park to its fullest abilities with a park hopper pass. The price of the ticket is also almost $100 more than last year’s grad night’s price, which was $220. Despite all these benefits, the face cost of $300 doesn’t include food on the trip. This raises the question of how much a student will realistically spend at Disney. The minimum cost of 2 quick meals is around $38. Meanwhile dining in on average can cost $50 per person, for one meal. Now the price of the trip is a minimum of $338 per person not including any souvenirs.
For some students, this could be unreasonable and far too expensive for a senior trip. Although this price is expensive, some students would argue that it’s worth the cost. “I think some people can be hesitant on paying the $300 for grad-nite, because it is cheaper going by yourself, but they don’t realize how this will be a one-time experience as seniors,” said Matthew Valencia, a senior. He believes that the trip is, although pricey, a must-do trip as a senior, as it can be a one-time experience with friends.
Valencia isn’t the only student to think this way. Senior Ethan Perez also believes that the trip is super important as a final thing to do during your senior year. “It’s really expensive, but it definitely is one of the final things you have to do during our last year of high school,” said Perez. Although the price is immense, many still suggest attending Grad-nite for a day full of memories with friends.
