Softball season has come to an end alongside the seniors’ journey with the finals of the playoffs. The girls have invested all their hard work into the season and up until the very end at the playoffs. There were many mixed emotions amongst the team members and their captains because of the number of seniors on the team. That will leave a huge dent in the team but nevertheless, the team this year had an exceptional season which led them to the playoffs.
The Softball varsity team consists of mostly seniors, and their leaving will be emotional yet exciting for both the players and coach as members of the team have said. Danika Iniguez, a senior, said,”I know many of us had mixed emotions about it, but at the end of the day we all enjoyed being in each other’s company.” She stated the team will regretfully have to say good-bye to lots of its team members. Although the players were conflicted about leaving soon, they enjoyed the time they had left together. The players leave doing what they loved most, which was their sport, softball.
Girl’s softball players will be missed dearly by the newcomers and the continuing players. Many seniors of the team have said that they feel a somberness leaving, although they look forward to their stunning futures. The friends that the players have made in softball contributed to the team. With the whole team as good friends, they had no trouble practicing with each other and giving each other support. There is room for improvement throughout the team due to their environment.
Hard work and perseverance kept the girls going throughout their season, even as games progressed. Ashley Lopez, a senior, said,“I think making it to the playoffs gave us a much-needed confidence boost that encouraged us to the first round of playoffs.” The softball players, seeing how far they had come, gave them great confidence in showing what they had accomplished.
Through the hard work and teamwork they have made and built, and their dedication to the sport. The Wolfpack ended up losing 4 – 13 to Maywood Academy on May 5. Ths was one of the most suspenseful and difficult games out of the whole season. This was not their best game, April 17 against Elizabeth Learning Center is where they achieved a great win! The score was the Wolfpack leading 24 to 2 against rivals.
The girl’s softball team held up well against many tough opponents throughout the season, especially in the final few games. Although there weren’t all too many wins, that doesn’t mean that the team didn’t try their best. The Wolfpack’s team making the playoffs this season was a special kind of good-bye to this years’ seniors. The coach stays hopeful about softball’s future for next year, and they are excited for the next upcoming season.
