MACES Orchestra’s enchanting performance captivates audiences with its beautiful harmonic sounds of instruments playing together. Anthony Padilla, a 9th grader, has been playing the violin since he was in the seventh grade when he was placed in an instruments class. “I was recommended by a junior friend of mine to join the advanced orchestra, and I’ve been a part of it ever since,” Padilla said. When you are performing in front of a crowd it can get nerve-racking “The hardest part is dealing with the crowd. You may see some people there that might make you nervous, and it could make playing a challenge,” Padilla said.
Perfecting the Violin is difficult, Anthony has been trying for two years “ I can say I am far from perfecting the instrument, but since I first joined orchestra I’ve wanted to do my best to learn all our pieces, violin skills, and even some songs of my own choice,” Padilla said.
When performing in front of a large crowd, a lot goes through the performer’s mind “I was constantly wondering what people in the crowd would think of the performance, and this pressured me to do my best,” Padilla said. Keeping up with the team and director is tricky and takes serious concentration, “We have our practices together, but aside from that I put in the practice time before school, during lunch, and on weekends,” Padilla said. Overall MACES Orchestra had a splendid performance, “We all displayed our familiarity with the music, and played enthusiastically, despite it being the most draining part of the school year,” Padilla said.
