On March 13, 2026, seniors and juniors came together to play a Powderpuff game, bringing students together and showing school spirit. In this event, roles are reversed, with boys serving as coaches and cheerleaders while girls play flag football using flag-pulling instead of full contact.
This year, behind the scenes, senior coaches played an important role in preparing their teams. They helped organize plays, teach the basics of the game, and keep the players motivated during practices. “It’s really about teamwork and making sure everyone knows what they’re doing,” Senior Carlos Castaneda explained.
Throughout the practices, players improved in their skills and strategies. By the time game day arrived, the team was more prepared and ready to compete. With their coaches’ guidance, players stepped out of their comfort zones and fully enjoyed the experience, making this year’s Powderpuff game both memorable and fun for everyone involved. Senior Dylan Rodriguez added, “We as coaches just want everyone to go out there, have fun, and give it their best.”
Once game day arrived, the crowd’s energy and the players’ preparation created an exciting matchup. Students filled the stands with pink and blue, with pink for the juniors and blue for the seniors.
After weeks of practice and an exciting game, Senior Giselle Villagran reflected on what made this year’s Powderpuff so special. “My favorite moment from the game was when we won, everyone ran to each other and began to hug, jump, and yell. It was the moment we all shared our joy and victory, and just had fun playing.” Villagran said as she expressed excitement. The game was full of energy and teamwork, with both classes showing great effort.
The seniors dominated the field, finishing the game with a 26–0 victory over the juniors. The crowd was filled with excitement as blue and pink confetti filled the sky, celebrating the seniors’ victory. The seniors cheered, marking their last Powderpuff game with a memorable win. Following the senior players’ victory, Daisy Marin reflected on the highlight of the game.
“My favorite moment from the game was scoring the last touchdown and making the score 26-0. Since we’re the class of 2026, our scoring 26 points felt perfect and made the moment feel more special. At that moment, everyone was so excited, it was a fun and unforgettable feeling.” Marin said. As the celebration continued, Samantha Ortiz described what he would remember most from the Powderpuff experience.
“From my powderpuff experience, I’ll remember how eager and spirited our Class was to win. I loved how we all took powderpuff seriously while still having fun, and it was nice to celebrate at Canes with the whole team after our victory.” Ortiz said. For the seniors, this year’s Powderpuff was more than just a game. But it was a chance to showcase dedication, while creating memories that will last long after the final whistle, making their last Powderpuff game unforgettable.
