Under the bright Friday night lights, the Wolfpack celebrated its football 2026 seniors one last time. The stands were filled with family and friends as cheerleaders cheered for each senior walking across the field on their last home game of the season. It was a night full of pride, memories, and gratitude as the seniors were recognized.
The Wolfpack football team’s senior night took place on October 24 for their final home game of the season. Parents came and showed their support to their seniors, alongside fellow students.
The game felt bittersweet to many seniors. “It feels bittersweet because we’re all going to have a good time. Obviously, I like playing with all my brothers on the team, it is awful since it’s going to be the last time,” Aaden Arrieta, a senior, said.
Similar to what Arrieta said, Roger Vargas, a senior and varsity player, said, “It feels weird, because it’s probably going to be the last time I play at home and to play football with everyone, all my brothers.”
Similar to the other seniors, Dominic Angulo shared a similar feeling, adding, “It’s a happy but sad feeling. I know this team has been through a lot, mostly because the team is filled with more seniors. It’s a majority of the team. We started off rough during our freshman year, with mostly all of us on JV. Those who played with varsity that year ended with a first-round exit, with the year after having a team that had all sophomores playing on varsity. We just had to work our way up. What makes it sad is just leaving everything behind. A lot of us have been here since sixth grade, so we have built a strong connection.”
Looking towards their future, many seniors shared the same thought that they wouldn’t pursue playing college football, except for Dominic Angulo and Tristen Gomez.
Angulo said, “My future plans are college ball. I’m talking to a couple of coaches about getting connections.”
Gomez feels the same as Angulo, saying,“ I would hope to play in college. I have plans to go to college [and to try out for college football] and see how it goes, but if it doesn’t happen, I won’t be mad or disappointed.”
Throughout the night, parents and students waved posters and shouted messages of support for the seniors throughout the game. They made cute cutouts of certain players and had posters up for the guys covering the bleachers with the banners the students created.
Once the game was finished, the 2026 seniors were recognized by their loved ones, and they walked the field alongside their siblings, their parents, or guardians who had been there for them through these years. As each player walked with their family, the crowd erupted in applause.
Even though the game didn’t end in a victory, they were still winners in everyone’s hearts for the effort they put in. For the seniors, the scoreboard didn’t define the night. The memories that they created – and watching how everyone cheered for them, even if something didn’t go as planned, was enough for them. After four years of dedication, these players truly gave it their all, and that’s what matters the most.
